The Image Network (TIN) is a resource for people who handle images as part of their work.
TIN courses and events focus on the needs of business, and highlight the need for different parts of the workflow to 'talk to each other' now that images are increasingly delivered in digital form.
Traditionally, learning has centred on the skilled areas of photography (origination) and pre-press and print (output). The digital workflow requires new skills for the large numbers of people handling images between the two ends of the process - picture libraries, researchers, publishers, production departments, designers, are just some of the people who need to extend their skills in the digital environment
The Image Network draws on resources from all parts of the image and publishing industry. People working in different sectors have much to learn from each other. TIN aims to promote that interchange in an environment geared to learning rather than selling.
Events focus on imaging and associated issues. Marketing, copyright and other business and legal issues are addressed alongside technical topics. Information and events are aimed at managers and staff alike. Managers need to understand the latest technology in order to make good business decisions, while staff on the ground need to learn techniques to work productively and to quality standards.
Learning Networks
The Image Network was launched as a sister organisation to the successful established learning network for new media companies, nmk www.nmk.co.uk and the new network for the music industry, Music Tank www.musictank.co.uk
